Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stated that he would initiate the inspection of the situation with the situation with the Ukrainian book publishing industry within the parliamentary level.

On Monday, during the program on Lviv Regional Television and Radio Company, Mykola Tomenko emphasized discussing the social policy of the state, that for the present moment, the Ukrainian can hardly make ends meet thus they are almost beyond the attention of the Ukrainian present authorities.

M. Tomenko emphasized that the State Committee for Television and Radio Broadcasting which is supposed to render all the necessary assistance to the Ukrainian publishing industry, "acts with the state publishing houses as L. Chernovetskyi used to ‘work´ with the municipal publishing houses and book shops makes everything possible to deprive them of their premises since the majority of them are situated in the central part of Kyiv city."

He named the publishing houses- victims of such situation: "Ukrainian Encyclopedia" , "Dnipro", "Veselka", "Urozhai", "Mystestvo", "Zdorovia", "Technika" and others.

Moreover, the Deputy Chairman of the Parliament informed that for the present day the miserable sum of UAH 20 million that was allocated by the authorities for the support of the Ukrainian book are not being directed to the Ukrainian publishing houses working under this program. "It is ‘good´ indicator of the attention paid by the Ukrainian authorities to this sphere on the eve of 20th anniversary of independence of Ukraine", declared M. Tomenko.
